Reflection
What do I most often use to define myself — my past, my failures, people's opinions, or what God says about me in Christ?
Prayer
Loving Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me new life through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You did not merely repair my old life, but made me a new creation in Christ. I choose to believe Your Word. I will not define myself by the past, failure, shame, fear, or the opinions of people. I choose to renew my mind with Your Word and learn to live according to my new identity in Christ. Help me truly understand what You have done for me in Jesus Christ. Help me not only know the phrase "new creation," but live out the reality of new creation life. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Declaration
I am not the old person improved. I am a new creation in Christ. My identity is decided by what God has said, not by what I feel.

Lesson 1: What Is the New Creation? This course is about one of the most important truths in the New Testament: In Christ, you are not the old person repaired. You are a new creation. Second Corinthians 5:17 says: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This is not just a religious phrase. It is not just an encouraging thought. It is a statement of what God has done in Jesus Christ. Being born again is not simply becoming more moral. It is not merely improving your behavior. It is not God taking the old life and polishing it. Being born again means that God has made you new in Christ. That is where this course begins. Many believers still define themselves mainly by the past. They say: "I have always been this way." "I failed before." "My personality is just like this." "My family background shaped me." "I do not think I can really change." But God's Word says: If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Notice, it does not say, "One day, if you try hard enough, you may become a new creation." It says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation." Of course, your mind still needs to be renewed. Your emotions still need to be trained by truth. Your body still needs to learn obedience. Your habits still need to change. But those changes do not happen so that you can become a new creation. They happen because you already are a new creation in Christ, and now you are learning to live out the new life within you. That difference is very important. If you believe you are still only the old person, you will keep trying to change from the old identity. You may begin to think: “I must try harder to become acceptable.” “I must become good enough for God to receive me.” “I must prove that I am worthy.” “I must improve myself so God can finally use me.” But the New Covenant begins in a completely different place. God does not wait for you to repair yourself before He receives you. God makes you alive in Christ. God reconciles you to Himself through Jesus Christ. God gives you new life. God makes you a new creation. You are not moving from rejection toward acceptance. In Christ, you have already been accepted. Now you are learning to live from the acceptance you have received. You are not climbing out of the old self in order to become the new self. In Christ, you have already been made new. Now you are learning to put off the old ways and live as the new person God has made you to be. The new creation is not a feeling. Some days, you may not feel new. Some days, old thoughts may return. Some days, you may still face weakness, pressure, or struggle. But your identity is not decided by your feelings. Your identity is decided by what God has said in Christ. God says you are a new creation in Christ. That is your new identity. So the Christian life does not begin by asking, "Who do I feel like I am?" It begins by asking, "Who does God say I am in Christ?" If we do not know who we are, confusion follows. People define themselves by the past, by failure, by other people's opinions, by emotions, by bodily conditions, or by circumstances. But God's Word renews us. God says: You are in Christ. You are a new creation. Old things have passed away. New things have come. This is not pride. This is faith in God's Word. True humility is not saying, "I am nothing." True humility is agreeing with what God says. If God says you are a new creation in Christ, then you learn to say: "I am a new creation in Christ." "My past is not the final authority." "My failure is not my identity." "The life of God is in me." "I choose to learn to live according to this new life." Today, please remember three things. First, the new creation is not the old person improved. It is God's new creation in Christ. Second, the new creation is identity, not feeling. You may still be growing, but your identity in Christ has changed. Third, mind renewal and life change are the process of living out the new life already within you. So, let us turn these truths into today’s declaration: I am not the old person improved. I am a new creation in Christ. My identity is decided by what God has said, not by what I feel. Let us pray Loving Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me new life through Jesus Christ. Today's reflection question is: What do I most often use to define myself — my past, my failures, people's opinions, or what God says about me in Christ?
